Cosmic Consciousness: A New Age Deception

A national convention was recently held in San Francisco, California titled "Wisdom 2.0. Summit." I was drawn to Tom Bunzel's review of the summit because it promised the prospect of enlightenment by today's greatest minds; or at least those who are considered wise in today's culture. What I actually encountered was a formidable list of the world's most prominent New Age thinkers and their disdain for the "monkey minds" of those who still consider wisdom to be something given to man by the hand of God.

Perhaps the preeminent New Age thinker and writer today is Eckhart Tolle whose books, The Power of Now and The New Earth, are blueprints on how to open oneself up to the cosmic realm of consciousness. He promises peace, serenity and a new productivity based on understanding the level of one's own consciousness. His followers include a host of powerful entertainers including Ophrah Winfrey and Jim Carey. Tolle was the headliner of the convention, but he was only one of the several top New Age thinkers. Also present were Johnathan Rosenfield and Jon Kabat-Zinn 1, as well as numerous technology gurus, and media CEO's. Their message?--transcendental meditation to create a better individual, worker, company and eventually a better world.

Karen May, Vice President of Learning at Google, told the crowd how Google had incorporated the techniques and strategies that had been discussed by the many luminaries during the conference. In her role as talent and career developer, she encourages all of Google's employees to participate in periodic meditation and consciousness techniques.

After reading the article, I was struck by what seemed to be an almost euphoric aura within the conference---as if some other-worldly presence had descended on the building and inhabited the participants. After doing more research on Eckhart Tolle and applying what I had learned about New Age philosophies, I realized the spirit guides of the participants were likely the cause of the heightened spiritual presence.

Is this new cosmic consciousness really wisdom? If you read and listen to the statements and comments of those who have given themselves to this way of thinking, you will be impressed by what they say. It sounds so good you could almost believe everything they are saying---almost. Who doesn't want to end all conflict, war and economic hardship? Who doesn't want good to prevail instead of evil? ---but as Paul Harvey once said, "now for the rest of the story."

The cosmic consciousness of today is nothing more than a re-emergence of ancient occult arcana; primarily from the Egyptian Mystery Schools and the principles of Hermes Tristmegistus. Hermes has been described as the father of the occult, and the principle of mentalism is only one of his seven principles. Over 100 years ago famous occultists such as Warren Felt Evans, Mary Barker Eddy, Ralph Waldo Trine, Robert Collier and Ernest Holmes used the principle of mentalism in their writings. They proposed the same ideas being proposed today 2. Why should anyone be concerned by the New Age and Cosmic Consciousness? Everyone has the right to know that a global deception is underway; paving the way for a new world order that will use mentalism techniques to control the world's population. The leaders of the current movement hold those who profess a faith in the Jewish and Christian God as being a threat to their demonic goals. Some may not consciously realize this, but their demonic spirit guides know it very well.

What is the counter world view to today's cosmic consciousness? A simple belief that God is the creator, and still wants to have a personal relationship with his creation. The New Age Movement promises that instead of a relationship with God, we can become gods ourselves.

Don't be deceived. Man cannot obtain wisdom on his own---it is the zenith of arrogance to think out of one's own mind comes the power to become a god. This is Satan's lie and he continues to perpetuate the lie, generation after generation. Only the humble of heart will ever obtain true wisdom because, "God gives wisdom and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.3" "Wisdom is more precious than rubies. Nothing you can desire can compare to her.4" Those who open their minds and hearts to demonic forces through meditation and mantra chanting will only allow themselves to become hosts to a number of demonic spirits posing as spirit guides who will eventually bring destruction to that individual. True Wisdom comes from God---there is no other way. Cosmic consciousness should be called the great cosmic deception.

"God's Mysteries and Paradoxes: Looking through the Glass, Darkly" is a book about paradoxes and how they were actually created by God to bring unique enlightenment but also to confound the so- called earthly wisdom.

Paradoxes also keep believers humble by showing them that God's ways are not always man's ways. "For this is what the high and lofty One says--he who lives forever, whose name is holy; I live in a high and holy place but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite (Isaiah 57: 15)."
