PJ Jonas is a mother of 8 who six years ago started making goat milk soap for her family, in the kitchen on their 3-acre farm. Then began to sell it at various fairs. The soap became so popular that today she not only has a 36-acre farm, but a thriving business. I discovered this piece of news from PRWeb who advised that PJ Jonas had just won the "2013 StartupNation Leading Moms in Business Competition" (sponsored by Staples).
Since the publicity material states that her youngest is now 6 years old, it seems pretty obvious what condition PJ was in when she started making the soap, and if having 8 kids and building up a business is not enough to knock most people for a loop, then get this - the kids are homeschooled. Not only do the kids (excuse the goat pun) study at home, but they also work in the production of the goat's milk soap. Working together as a family has helped instill certain positive attitudes and behaviors in the children. On the company website is at www.GoatMilkStuff.com you can not only see photographs of the family and their operation, but if you pay attention you will note that they have also developed a fund raising program to assist worthy causes.
- There is a video on youtube (THE Doctors TV show features Jonas family & Goat Milk Stuff) in which the family is interviewed.
