On a day that appeared just like any other, I awoke to a stinging pain in both my hands. I could hardly bend my fingers because they were so swollen. I was in a lot of pain. My doctor ran some tests and noticed that my white blood count was low, my red blood count was low and my platelet count was low. She diagnosed it as systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE. I knew that the disease could be fatal if left untreated.
At around this same time, I learned about the world of self-help through a colleague of mine. I discovered affirmations and how they could heal the body. I learned that the body can be healed through thought alone. Pretty soon, I recovered completely from lupus just by changing my thoughts and beliefs through affirmations.
The following affirmations, which can be used for any disease, and can improve your health greatly by repeating them every day. I found that repeating them in front of the mirror often, first thing in the morning and when falling asleep at night, really entrenched the new beliefs in my subconscious mind:
- I love myself enough to make healthy choices.
- I attract perfect health easily into my life.
- I lovingly cultivate good habits which assist my body in creating vibrant health.
- I get out of my own way and allow myself to heal easily and effortlessly.
- I go within and tap into the divine part of myself that knows how to heal.
- Most importantly, am thankful for my vibrant health. I am in love with life.
Affirmations are tools you can use to change your beliefs about yourself and about health. The idea is to repeat the affirmation in the present tense, as if it is already real and true, and the experience that matches the affirmation will show up in your life. It is inevitable.
The best part of doing these affirmations was that you will start to feel better. You will love and respect yourself more. I think affirmations, repeated daily, along with excellent self-care, will improve your health beyond your wildest dreams.
In order to maintain my good health, I include anti-inflammatory foods in my diet, such as blueberries, pineapple, salmon, turmeric, and avocado. I believe inflammation is the probable physical cause of many diseases, and when we reduce the inflammation in our bodies, our health improves.
Finally, regular exercise is so important. I find that scheduling exercise in my day, as if it is another important appointment, really helps me stick to a program. I exercise 3-4 times a week. Exercise is considered by many doctors to be the closest thing to a magic bullet in preventing disease that they know of, so you can't afford not to include it in your schedule.
