BELFAST, MAINE -- Registration is open for the August 8 writers' conference sponsored by the Maine Fellowship of Christian Writers. The event for all writers, published and unpublished, will be held at First Baptist Church in Belfast. The theme is "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth."

The all-day conference will feature workshops, small group sessions by genre, and an opportunity for attendees to read from their work. Cost is $30 if pre-registered, or $40 at the door. Some scholarships are available.

For a brochure and registration form, or for more information about scholarships or the conference, call Vicki Schad at 923-3956, or email jvschad@gmail.com.

Workshops will include "What Does an Editor Do, Anyway? (And Why Do I Need One?)" by Genie Dailey of Fine Points Editorial Services, in Jefferson. Dailey will also offer professional critiques during the conference.

Award-winning novelist Susan Page Davis of Clinton, author of more than twenty historical and romantic suspense novels, will teach "Creating 3-D Characters." Elin Lee of Lancaster, Mass., an award-winning writer and editor, will present "Oh, Dear!—Fiction of Non-Fiction?"

Beth Rogers of Bangor, author of two published books, will teach "In the Beginning," a workshop to get the creative juices flowing. Vicki Reynolds Schad of Vassalboro, author of several nonfiction books, articles, and devotionals, will present "Nonfiction—Inception to Completion."
