What Would You Do If Your President Were An Idiot?

Notice to all New Hampshire parents: Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) will be campaigning at your child’s school. Parental discretion is advised.

Teddy Kennedy’s favorite drinking buddy has recently been off the stool and on the stump, desperately trying to woo Granite Staters in his uphill bid for the 2008 presidential primary. Where is the Surgeon General when you really need him? In the same country that so scorns smoking, we actually allow Chris Dodd access to our kids. Just like a pack of cigarettes, the senior senator from "Corrupticut" should have a mandatory warning stamped on him, and like with cigarettes, access to Dodd should be denied without proper ID and proof of legal age.

During his address to high school students in Concord, Dodd was doing a one man pep rally without pom-poms for civil unions as New Hampshire legislators were voting on the issue of civil unions over at the state capitol. In typical liberal Democrat fashion, he rhetorically posed the inane question, "What would you do if your child were gay?"

I’ll be "happy" to answer.

Apparently, the junior senator from the "Kennedy/Dodd Waitress Sandwich" team and the legendary state of Beltway barstool inebriation is either part of the faction that sincerely believes homosexuality is a normal and wholesome behavior, or he is part of the vast left wing conspiracy that is covering up the truth and attempting to mainstream this perversion.

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association removed the entry of homosexuality as a deviant disorder from its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual because the organization capitulated to bullying by gay activists at the APA’s annual conventions. The decision has been vehemently disputed by many APA members to no avail. As generations evolve with older folks dying and younger folks being born, raised and indoctrinated in a twisted secular environment that has continually attempted to pass this deviance off as mainstream, more people are buying into the con game that homosexuality is an alternate lifestyle instead of a very disturbed and destructive practice, linked to several other physical and mental health afflictions such as substance abuse and depression, as well as potentially chronic and fatal sexually transmitted diseases. The propaganda and brainwashing is working. Many young people today (and even some older ones) just don’t know any better. Several gays have been successfully treated for this malady through counseling and therapy offered in both religious and secular venues.

The so-called "gay marriage-like rights" Dodd spoke of are not God-given rights, but false, synthetic, worthless rights, man-made by those with naivety to share or an agenda to forward. This gross imbalance of nature and assault on marriage, families and culture is as ludicrous as marrying siblings to each other. But like New England weather, or the next city bus, if we wait long enough, this too, shall pass.

It would be simply a farce that Dodd would make such statements to adults of legal consent. It is an absolute abomination that he made it to children. Homosexuality is not an alternate lifestyle, it is an illness, and its practice is an evil and unnatural depravity. Those so afflicted should be treated, and their abnormal behavior should be vociferously castigated, not condoned. At some point after the Victorian era, we lost our sense of shame. Soon after, our scruples followed. Dodd, as a public official, despite his abysmal name recognition as a mover and a shaker, is spreading this social disease to young people in much the same way that a short order cook slathers mayonnaise onto a sandwich (without the waitress in the middle). Had I been present at that gathering as a father of a child in attendance, I would have treated Chris Dodd in the exact same way I would have if some other degenerate were trying to lure my child into his car or into a rest room. Dodd’s despicable actions were no different, yet as a public proponent of depravity, Dodd would have received a standing ovation and some loopy, liberal-biased, feel-good humanitarian award and my actions as a loving, protective father would have gotten me a stint in a federal pen with court-ordered anger management counseling. The tragic difference between our society of today and an hourglass is that every once in a while, at least the hourglass gets turned right side up again.

As a backdrop to the senator’s sordid high school scenario, the American Psychological Association recently came out with a very disturbing report regarding the sexualization of young girls in our society and the ill effects caused by such sexualization. Part of that problem is the same type of clueless, apathetic, lemming parents who found Dodd’s insidious remarks to their still developing and impressionable children just ducky. Dodd elaborated in his cessfest by saying that his two daughters, ages 5 and 2, could grow up to become lesbians, and they should have the opportunity to enjoy gay marriage-like rights. Dodd added that anyone not wanting a gay child to be happy isn’t being honest. By that sage logic, an obese child should be given a truckload of candy, with a side dish of carte blanche.

Dodd personalized the issue by asking, "How would I want my child to be treated if they were of a different sexual orientation?" He just doesn’t get it. That is precisely what you do, Senator, you have your child treated.

I am astounded as to how even this myopic giant of public policy vision and an articulate graduate of the Trent Lott School Of Public Speaking & Political Suicide can continue to campaign without the ability to walk or speak due to having both feet so far implanted into his mouth that his tootsies are tickling his tonsils. Above and beyond the fact that for years he has been the unofficial President and head cheerleader of the Fidel Castro fan club, this was the same rocket scientist and pinnacle of principle who praised former Ku Klux Klansman, Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) a few years back by saying that Byrd would have been a great senator at any moment (in our nation’s history), including during the founding of our country, the crafting of our Constitution and the Civil War. Attaboy, Chris. And don’t forget when old "Cross Burning Byrdie" charmed and bedazzled us with his blithering regaling about "white niggers" during a Fox News TV interview. Yes, indeed, another great moment. Thanks for the reminder, Senator Dodd. Would you like some salt and pepper for those shoes, Senator? Some ketchup, perhaps? How about a nice, authentically autographed bed sheet from your mentor, Senator Byrd? That should cheer you up. Or maybe a fine imported cigar, courtesy of your hero, Fidel? (Oops! Never mind!)

It never fails. Liberal Democrats not only typically find themselves on the wrong side of issues, but they flippantly disregard fact, long range ramifications and simple decency and tradition because all matters for them are decided based on emotion, moral relativism and the immediate present. Dodd’s ridiculous point is the same one I have had thrown at me by many a liberal in political arguments. "What if it was your spouse, your kid, your parent," and so on, as if that changes the argument. Personal relations and personal feelings don’t change the facts and should not change the response. That is why we say, "The truth hurts." Well, at least some of us say it.

What would I do? I would send my child to a mental health professional and pray to God until my knees bled. Then I would get up, apply bandages, get back on my bandaged knees and pray some more, but at no point, as a loving and responsible parent would I ever in any way condone or encourage homosexual behavior in my child. Yes, there is a chance that a child could grow up to be gay. A child could also grow up to be an alcoholic. Does a good parent buy the kid a drink for his birthday so he’ll feel good, or face the cold, hard facts and get him or her into a treatment program? As long as Chris Dodd’s parenting preferences are now on display for all to see, does this paradigm of parenting also deny vaccinations for preventable diseases to his daughters because they don’t like getting a shot? After all, any parent who doesn’t want to see their (gay or straight) child happy isn’t being honest, right "Senator Spock"?

This crass tactic is also political manipulation, similar to the gratuitously underhanded and poorly-veiled cutting remark that a previous and equally amoral president-wannabe, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), made during a debate with President Bush regarding Vice President Cheney’s gay daughter. Dragging family into campaign shtick is cheap, tacky, dehumanizing and exploitive. The future sexual orientation of the two little pre-school Dodd-ettes is about as much a relevant political issue as Elizabeth Edwards’s cancer, and in both cases, both very intimate issues are none of our business, but apparently, we flushed away humility and modesty at some point after we also shed ourselves of the equally annoying burdens of shame and scruples.

And this man, despite his dysfunctional ideas, big mouth and bleeding, fledgling, feeble joke that he dares call a campaign, wants to be the leader of the free world, and he has the ignorant audacity to ask "What if your child were gay?" Does Dodd really believe that drivel, or does he have an ongoing bet with his Senate colleague and presidential competitor, Joe Biden (D-DE), who is also raking in campaign donations at turtle-like speed, as to who can drop out first? We should be asking, "What if this idiot were our President?" (Yeah, I know, but like I said, "What if?") Hopefully, voters in the Granite State will recognize the soft head of this conniving, over-the-hill, snake-oil-selling hack and send him packing back home to Connecticut.

On second thought, as far as this Nutmegger is concerned, New Hampshire can keep him. Cheers!
