When you or someone you love hears the words, "you have cancer," it changes your whole life. It sweeps away not just the patient, but the entire family, leaving everyone feeling helpless, lonely and afraid. Then it dumps you onto a healthcare conveyer belt that adds to the confusion, disconnection and exhaustion. That's why Reimagine steps in: to make sure that you and your family are not alone. A revolutionary new wellness company, Reimagine is providing the "other half of care"--care for the person--by addressing the social and emotional challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis.
Co-founder Kristin MacDermott, a licensed professional counselor with a specialty in marriage and family therapy, explains that the journey to create Reimagine began during her work with people who were struggling in the face of a diagnosis.
"We started actually in a small hospital in Colorado and we had a counseling model. So we would go into the chemotherapy room when people were sort of trapped there for several hours at a time. And we would do typical counseling with the person who was actually undergoing treatment as well as with their family members. We got really interested in--why did some people thrive and some others really struggle?"
That's how Reimagine was born: with the goal to help patients and loved ones thrive in the face of cancer or a significant life struggle, rather than be swept away by it. Combining the evidence-based curriculum of Pillars4Life with access to the top health and wellness experts, Reimagine is building a one-of-a-kind online community.
