| Norfolk Lagoon 10 days apart |
This is a composite photograph of exactly the same place. The top section was taken on August 2nd and the bottom section on August 12th 2010. The location is the 2nd Lagoon on Bribie Island Queensland.
On August 2nd I did a long walk on Bribie Island taking photographs of the 3 lagoons. Around the 8th of August there was a huge storm. When I went back on the 12th, I discovered that the high tides and turbulent conditions had opened up channels into the lagoons.
These lagoons are actually freshwater lagoons and once the ocean puts back the sand bars to block them off, they will once again fill with fresh rain water.
The Island that can be seen is Moreton Island, a one time whaling station but today a tourist resort.

Just for those of you who don't think there is anything special about these S-U-M-M-E-R photographs, just remember that this is Australia. It is W-I-N-T-E-R! Temperatures around these parts dropped the other day to an unbearable 9 degrees C above zero.
