HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- For Lent this year, Family Theater Productions is releasing a brand-new DVD paralleling the Carrying of the Cross in the Mysteries of the Rosary. "Carrying On" is a modern- day story of a girl who must face her own shortcomings. Filmed in the Philippines, it is the latest installment in the Manifest Mysteries Anthology.

"Carrying On" focuses on the issues of materialism and self-centeredness. Maria is a spoiled teen from Boston who reluctantly travels to the Philippines to visit her grandmother. It's quite a culture shock for her. Maria learns to make sacrifices and experience what it means to truly be "family" to others.

The 24-minute drama is ideal for families looking to deepen their faith while exploring the spiritual side of topical issues and how they relate to the life of Christ. It is part of the "Manifest Mysteries: A Rosary Anthology," a DVD series for teens, families and classrooms.

"We are excited to release 'Carrying On' as the newest DVD in the Manifest Mysteries series," said Father John Phalen, CSC, President of Holy Cross Family Ministries. "Like the other dramas, it's entertaining and sure to spark discussion among families, especially teens, about how Christ's messages relate to their lives today."

Available from Holy Cross Family Ministries, "Carrying On" is produced in English, dubbed in Spanish, and subtitled in French and Portuguese on one DVD and includes a multi-lingual study guide.

This video project has been funded in part by the Catholic Communication Campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

A trailer for the new DVD can be viewed at (http://bit.ly/1f39Ha1) "Carrying On" sells for $8.95, plus shipping and tax. It can be ordered online at www.HCFMstore.org or by calling 800-299- 7729.

Also for the sacred commemoration of Lent, Family Theater Productions is offering the newly completed 5-DVD set of Manifest Mysteries related to the Sorrowful Mysteries. In addition to "Carrying On," it includes "The Eggplant Lady," relating to The Agony in the Garden; "Secret of the Horse," paralleling The Scourging at the Pillar; "Haunted Heart," about The Crowning with Thorns; and "The Hero," relating to The Crucifixion.

All five DVDs are 24 minutes in length and address modern situations faced by young people today. Each drama is linked to a Mystery of the Rosary. Each DVD includes a multi-lingual study guide. The set sells for $35, a savings of $9.75 when purchased separately. They can be ordered online at www.HCFMstore.org or by calling 800-299-7729.

Family Theater Productions, founded more than 65 years ago, is a member ministry Holy Cross Family Ministries, which was founded by Servant of God Patrick Peyton in 1942. A candidate for sainthood, Father Peyton, CSC, was one of the most influential American Catholic priests of the 20th century. Known as the "Rosary Priest," he encouraged millions of families to pray the Rosary daily. Family Theater Productions evangelizes culture using media to entertain, educate and inspire families.

In the spirit of its founder, Servant of God Patrick Peyton, Holy Cross Family Ministries encourages family prayer, especially the Rosary, to support the spiritual well-being of the family. Editorial Comment:

Judging by the video trailer at http://bit.ly/1f39Ha1 this professional movie drama will be worth watching.
