'Mompreuners' Launch Guavamitts mittens for kids

Two "mompreuners" have launched into the baby market with their eco-friendly baby essentials. Their flagship product guavamitts is the world's first smart, stay on baby mitten! The Portland, Oregon, based company has gone beyond simple safety and functionality to create a product that is also educational, sustainable and fashionable!

Guavakids got its start when high school friends Linsey Ebuen and Lili Yeo were reunited by the birth of their kids. What started as the sharing of small solutions to the day-to-day problems of raising baby, soon developed into a partnership and brand. Together their mission was to create beautiful baby essentials that work! They decided to first focus on solving the baby mitten problem. Frustrated by baby mittens that wouldn't fit, and inspired to create something that could make a difference in the development of their kids, they designed guavamitts.

Guavamitts boast the industry's first two-part closure on an infant mitten, with elastic on the back and an adjustable velcro tab on the front. Instead of resorting to the socks on hand option, parents can reach for a mitt that stays comfortably on baby's hands and can be adjusted to the right size as they grow. By wearing mittens, babies no longer run the risk of scratching their faces, and can avoid ingesting germs from others who touch their hands.

They've also been designed to optimize every chance for educating their wearers. Studies have shown that high contrast graphics can promote brain and eye development in babies. Since newborns can only focus 8-10 inches from their face, guavamitts decided to use a blend of timeless, age-appropriate patterns along with bold and neutral colors to incorporate a beautiful learning environment that's always at their fingertips.

The 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton blend was specifically incorporated because it has been proven to block 99.97% of UVA and UVB rays so children's delicate skin is protected from sun damage. In addition, bamboo also has natural antifungal properties and helps prevent uncomfortable skin rashes by deterring bacteria and wicking away water 3-4 times better than cotton. Best of all, bamboo is 100% biodegradable and harvesting it imposes zero pollution on the environment.

Both Lili Yeo and Linsey Ebuen pride themselves as being moms first. Staying true to their roots, they both received their education and work experience from schools and businesses in the Pacific Northwest! Lili bled purple and gold as a Husky at the University of Washington, before earning her corporate stripes at Nike, adidas-salomon, HP, and Ziba Design. Linsey's path led to a degree in business management and a nine year stay with Intel. With guavakids products, they've created a brand parents and kids can expect more from. Their baby essentials are designed to be an integrated package combining function, style, planet-friendly materials, and an educational purpose at a price that lets parents save for more important things - like college.
