Unintended Conseqences

The way I understand things is that we went into Iraq to destroy weapons of mass destruction. There were no WMDs, so we were then told that we went into Iraq because Iraq was working with Al Qaeda to terrorize America, then we were there because it was for a regime change, and finally our mission was to free the Iraqi people and give them a democracy.

Well, regardless of the truth, the reason does not matter because now that our troops are there we must do everything we can to support them.

As I was listening to the news the other night, I found that one thing had been accomplished. We have created the largest training ground in the world for urban guerillas, or urban terrorists, whichever you wish to call them. We have no idea how many are in this training area. Washington has estimated at different times, numbers from 20,000 to possibly as many as 100,000, I do not know and cannot even make a guess. There are up to 20,000,000 Sunnis. How many of these are sympathic and or supportive of these guerillas or terrorists? Do these guerillas have a virtual unending supply of replacements? Have we opened a can of worms that we cannot put back in the can?

Has this made America safer or is it creating more potential terrorists, willing to die to hurt our country and our people? Have our noble intentions created this giant training ground for our enemies? Will the guerillas or terrorists use this training in America? They have ample opportunity as our borders are wide open while hundreds of thousands of Americans guard the borders of Iraq and other countries thousands of miles from our borders.

Is this an excellent example of the law of unintended consequences? Does this point toward the wisdom and intelligence of our leaders or does it point toward the inept leadership we have in Washington? I know I have asked a lot of questions but I do not know of any other way to get answers. I have tried Washington but have recieved no answer and do not expect to.

Just asking as I kind of would like to know.
