I'm not sure how many of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum fiction mysteries I've read. Quite a few but never enough.
|Plum Lucky was another great Janet Evnovich mystery with Grandma for humor along with Stephanie Plum, the lead character and skip tracer in a bail bond business, and other fictional guys and gals. Milt Gross photo.|
Robert Parker and Evanovich are my favorite two writers, both fiction mystery, murder, and mayhem and both with humor tossed into the plot. The difference between the two is that Parker covers Boston, while Evanovich covers California and other warm places like Florida.
The best description of Plum Lucky is on the inside cover flap, where it reads, "Plum Lucky is an all-you-can-eat buffet of thrills, chills, shrimp cocktail, plus-size underwear, and scorching hot men. It's a between-the-numbers treat no Evanovich fan will want to miss!"
I'm sure glad I didn't -- miss it, that is.
Ever think of having a crippled horse in your apartment? Plum does. In an RV? Plum does. As is often the case, this tale travels from Plum's hometown of Trenton, NJ to Atlantic City and back.
In this one, there's crime, including kidnapping of Plum's grandmother, Grandma Mazur, as well as the horsey adventures. It's hard to imagine anyone with the courage to kidnap Stephanie's grandma!
Plum Lucky, published in 2007 by Saint Martin's Press, New York, with a price on this hardover book of $17.95. Amazon.com prices a paperback at $7.19 and a Kindle Edition at $7.99. Plum Lucky is one of 17 books by Evanovich of which I've read....well, I'm not sure. Nor am I sure if it's her tales rather than the titles that catch my attention.
I can't loan you my copy, as its going back to Searsport's Carver Memorial Library soon.
But you can obtain your own, look in a recycling center where folks bring books they've read or even break down and buy it. It and all Evanovich's books are worth the price.
