This one centers in Florida, an area I have never visited nor want to visit. It's not that I don't like Florida, it's just that I've never been into that state and don't want to visit there. My mother-in-law lived in a condo there and reported to me how her car had parts regularly stolen from it. I have a son who lives somewhere there and he told me the horror tales of storms.
But Janet Evanovich's tale of that state was humorous along with the serious mystery, which is how all her books are. Most take place in Trenton, NJ, and the location of this tale of half humor half mystery surprised me.
It revolves around race car driving and a good bit of crime. It involves a man who lives in a wooded swamp, a state trooper, and lots of other folks, including some weird villains.
I won't tell you the story. For that, you'll have to find your own copy, at Amazon.com for $7.99 for the paperback I read and $4.99 for the Kindle version. Or you can buy it in a book store. You can't borrow mine, because I have no idea where I put it after I read it. Somewhere, I'll bet.
Published by Harper Collins, it is a good tale combining humor with horror, as are most of Evanovich's books, although most are set in Trenton, NJ, a town I once drove through, hoping those guys hanging out on porches and the sidewalk would remain there. They did, and I never want to visit that fair city again.
If you appreciate Evanovich's style, humor and mystery combined in a breath taking tale, grab a copy, sit down in a well-lit room, and enjoy the tale.
I've enjoyed all her books I've read.
