Of all the books that I have read over the years, this book, (POSITIVE: One Doctor's Personal Encounter With Death, Life, And The US Healthcare System by Michael Saag, MD) and this book alone, held my interest to the very end!
And I must also state that Dr. Saag's book was so well- done and so very interesting that I hated to see it end.
This book illustrates in great detail, what the US Government and the medical establishments have tried to do to gain control of this deathly virus. Dr. Saag cites all the factors that we, as humans, must deal with in trying to counteract and gain control of the "AIDS" virus. This unselfish doctor cites example after example of what we as a nation have done and not done to eradicate this monster from our lives.
There aren't too many people in this world that I would dearly like to meet but this unselfish man is one that I would love to meet and shake his hand. His story is truly noble and he writes of his love for his patients with sincerity and honesty and he cried real tears when he cannot help a patient. He does not preach to his patients, he simply tries to find any way possible to help them have a quality of life while dealing with a "monster."
In my opinion, if anyone in these United States and the world for that matter, deserves an "award" for excellence in writing/publishing, and for being an "example" of what it truly means to be a compassionate doctor, then it belongs to Dr. Michael Saag.
Simply put, this man deserves the Pulitzer Prize for this outstanding work.
Would I recommend this book to others? GOD YES!
