M. Stevens-David Book Review: "Promise Fulfilled" by Theresa Bryant

"Promise Fulfilled" follows the story of three African American women, who form a sisterhood after meeting in grief support group. Throughout the story, these women face many obstacles and trials as they navigate through infertility, adoption and many other issues. These women forge their bonds through faith and are able to make it through their various hardships by remaining hopeful and compassionate.

Upon receiving this book, and reading "About the Author", I was really interested in reading her work. Sadly, despite the good reviews at Amazon.com I found this story to be one of total "hysteria" and that's putting it mildly.

It's a story about a woman, who, after having been brought up in a very loving family, upon the accidental demise of her parents, finds that she has been an adopted child. Upon being told of her adoption, she dissolves into a total breakdown that carries on throughout the whole story.

This is such a book of "DRAMA" that one quickly grows tired of it. If one could actually count how many times the characters "cry" "sob" "dissolve into tears" "fall to the floor crying", etcetera, it would be mind boggling to say the least. And the ending was "predictable" to say the least. Would I purchase this book? No.
