The Legend of Ranger, the Reindeer Who Couldn't Fly by Alan B. Salisbury and illustrated by Roberta Baird is a new children's book which tells the story of Ranger, Santa's newest reindeer.
The author, a former Major General with a 30-year military career, believes that 'self-belief' drives achievement. After having also held executive roles in the IT industry and having had a few business successes providing him with good fortune, he founded the Code of Support Foundation dedicated to supporting troops, veterans and military families and motivating Americans to serve in their own way to keep the nation strong. On another level, capitalizing on his own creative interests, he established Opus One Studios as a uniquely structured venture to benefit some of his favorite charities.
Centered around the Opus One Studios brand, he's offering a variety of socially conscious creative products whose earnings will go to support select beneficiary causes. Salisbury announces the brand through releasing his new children's book "The Legend of Ranger, the Reindeer Who Couldn't Fly", and the book's companion song which he composed, "Dream and Believe (Ranger's Song)." The Legend of the Ranger is a multimedia experience, one that includes an audiobook, a plush Ranger toy, and a song, "Dream and Believe," outlining Ranger's story. The track was produced by Paul Busdiecker, and features a string quartet from the Nashville Symphony, Busdiecker's own instrumentals, and angelic vocals courtesy of Mary Allen.
Themes explored and quotes in The Legend of the Ranger, include:
- "You can accomplish whatever you dream, if you just believe in yourself!"
- Think positively: "He could not try to fly thinking he might fail."
- Don't let the fear of failure keep you from trying: "It's better to try and not succeed than to fail without even trying."
The outline of the story is that Ranger the reindeer has big dreams: to be part of the reindeer team that pulls Santa's sleigh, and how he overcomes obstacles that befall him in order to fulfill his dream.
Ranger searches all over Santaland for someone who can help him learn the secret of flying. But everyone he asks, including the oldest and wisest elves, Mrs. Claus, and even his famous older brother Rudolph, gives him the same advice: "The secret lies within." Determined to fulfill his dream, Ranger must find the secret for himself.
