SACRAMENTO, CA -- In the heart of California, beyond the state's recall
election and wildfires, a young lady keeps her dreams alive of one day becoming
a singer.
Meet 26-year-old Stephanie Dale, a singer who is known by her fans as
Stephanie Layne.
Born and raised in Sacramento, Dale is the youngest of four children, and was
raised in a single parent home.
"My mom is the most awesome woman in the world. She is my best friend," Dale
said.
Her thoughts on having a family of her own one day, however, seem defeated,
but she's persistent in her quest to find her one true love.
"Umm that's tough," she said.
"Yes I would like to have a family of my own," Dale said. "Right now it's
just me and my cat, Chloee. I was told when I was 18 that I have a slim to none
chance of having kids."
She didn't explain who told her that or why, but her goals of being happily
married have not been discouraged. However, the road to that happiness has been
trying for her."I've been engaged four times. I've had a bad track record
so far, so we'll see."
From love to life, her thoughts on the world around her are general. Living
in a state that recently put a world famous Hollywood actor in office, her
thoughts on the subject started off with "Ah yes, the recall, " almost as
if she knew I was going to ask her something about it. "I think it was a good
idea. It was time for him to go. We needed some fresh meat in office."
Talking about California also brought led me to another question - The
wildfires; an event she hopes won't merge in the War on Terror.
"I didn't have anyone effected in the fires, but it's crazy isn't it? The
only thing I didn't like that I had heard was they thought it was a terrorist
act. They think anything major that happens that is terrorism and that's wrong.
It's sad for a nation to be scared like that."
She also said that she felt the country was a little trigger-happy. She does
support America's mission in Iraq. "I think we should fight for our country, or
everyone will think we can be walked on. We are the strongest nation out
there."
So for the California blonde that has a striking resemblance to actress Drew
Barrymore, and who won best female country entertainer in a state competition in
California three years ago, Dale has a lot to sing about. With so much going on
in the world today, she shouldn't have a problem with finding inspiration.
