Ok, so let me get this straight ...
First we go and fight in Afghanistan to destroy Al Quada and free their people, we're continuing the search for Osama Bin Laden, we start another war in Iraq, free their people, lose Saddam, finally find Saddam, and now we're going to space.
Instead of asking the question "What are you going to do now that you've won the Super Bowl?" - with the answer being, " I'm going to Disneyland!" It's "What are you going to do now that you've captured Saddam?" with the answer being, "I'm going to Mars!"
The nation is spinning around on several fronts, and sooner or later, we're going to come back to the start. However, though it may all seem balanced now, it's like we're being sidetracked with every little event. The only thing that would slow us down now is if Martians waved into the space rover's camera.
America sidetracked? You don't think about it until you step back, take a deep breath, and look at everything. At first we were going to stop Bin Laden, but as soon as we couldn't find the guy it went to saving the Iraqi people and fighting a global war on terror, Afterwards it went to a 'witch hunt' of terrorism cells around the world. Then it went to taking Saddam out of power, but then we lost him. Then after we started the war and still couldn't find him, it went to saving 'Building a new Iraq'. Then we found him, and now we're going to space
Again, I say, ...Mars?
My fellow Americans, when will someone stand up and say, "Hold on, we haven't even tied up the lines we got loose on earth yet!"
I think we should go back to the philosophy of Mom's kitchen: Don't leave the table until you've eaten everything off your plate. Progress is only as good as the strength to back it, and if we spread ourselves too thin, then we grow weaker, not stronger.
And in a sense, America does this because of its big heart to see all people live in peace. However, you can't save them all Hasselhoff.
I sound a bit salty. Yeah, I know. Well, it's been a few weeks, and watching all the current events, there's so much to talk about. I'm not going to even start on that Michael Jackson ordeal.
Maybe the strength of America will maintain this balance of properties we have created for ourselves, and all will be a happy ending. At least that's what I have faith in-the pride of America, the strength of its people, and the will to move forward. All that good stuff.
And just to think, we still have to file our income taxes and vote for a new president! Talk about side tracked!
