HO HUM! Do we really want to go that route again?
Let's review Pelkey/Hayes' performance both at candidate's night and her interview with the Lincoln News.
She brought up her "previous service to the town" when she served as a councilor. Hopefully you will recall that occurred when we were dumb and stupid ( Basset Hounds, a description that came out of MAGIC meetings).
She advised us that she will give 110% to this community. Question: 110% of what? What has she given to date? I see only distorted stories of MAGIC's non-successes, support of a Cultural Center that couldn't get off the ground floor and left many financial questions unanswered, a trolley that went nowhere and negativity registered against our local citizens because they didn't buy into the whole MAGIC picture.
A further comment went something like this - what you see is what you get. How prophetic! Let's look and see what you will be getting.
Since her last seat on the council,Pelkey/Hayes has not exhibited a stellar performance.
Her personal life has been in shambles but we won't even go there.
Her professional life leaves a lot to be desired. With the demise of two papers to her credit, it doesn't speak well of her business acumen. Added to that is her still outstanding debt to our very own town's revolving loan account.
Let's look more closely at that. She made a payment in Jan.2006 to the town office. Then a payment to Key Bank in Feb. of 2006. Both of these payments seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle as neither agency can attest to receiving payments.
After a few nudges and some derogatory remarks she finally made a payment in July of 2006. WHOOPIE!
Now we have to wait until spring of 2007 before we see another payment and that only because she was on her way to Augusta in an attempt to get money for Guilds Holloway and the Cultural Center.
Gee! Can you people out there make payments on loans you may have, ONLY when it is convenient for you or when you have an ulterior motive for doing so?
Pelkey/Hayes also had, and may still have numerous liens pending against her for non-payment of financial obligations she has incurred, especially regarding her previous ownership in the local paper.
Is this really someone you want in charge of overseeing Millinocket's budget and your tax dollars?
Your vote is one of the most precious items you possess.
