Thank You

You know it's funny in a way if you agree, what we learn about ourselves in life. I learned in this campaign that running for Governor is a little more difficult than I thought it would be. How much more difficult we'll find out on election day.

I feel very appreciative to all those that gave their audience during this campaign. That includes, high on the list, this great newspaper, Magic City Morning Star, where I bring you these columns (and look forward to continuing as my schedule continues to permit).

Comedian Steven Wright jokes "It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it." Maine may be smaller than some states, but it's plenty big enough. What we have here, I believe, is more than enough of what we need to get the job done.

I hope that this was an election that was productive for you also. I want to continue to speak with and hear from all of you. It is a pleasure and an honor to be engaged in dialogue with you about what our state needs and what makes it great. I know that you love Maine just as fiercely as I do, and that came through strongly also in the campaign.

To those leaders from both parties that met with me and looked over my ideas, thank you. I hope that Maine as a whole may become less partisan than it too often feels to be today. And if there's one message that I've been successful in communicating during this campaign I hope it's that. That together we can do so much. And when we try and tear each other down we can do so little.

So, once again thank you. There are many kind people in this state. Our state. Maine.
