When was the last time you saw a politician give you a "money back guarantee"?

Think about it.

Here's mine: If the majority of Mainers are not satisfied with the number of good paying jobs that have been created during my first two years as Governor, then I will step down and let a replacement be named to finish the term.

Is there another candidate in this race for Governor confident enough in Maine's private sector being able to create sufficient good jobs during their tenure to make the same pledge?

Led by the private sector rather than state government (as detailed in other others articles, please see links and excerpts at www.hammer2006.politicalgateway.com for details if interested) we will, working together, target high growth areas in which Maine possesses strategic resources, history and natural advantages (environmental solutions, encompassing several sectors, and renewable energy serving as two examples).

Incentives, keyed to return on investment, will be focused on companies with a strong history, continuing going forward, of being responsible employers, profitable and also environmentally sound.

Back to that guarantee.

While it's true that every four years that we as voters are provided a fresh opportunity to choose among all candidates running for Governor, where is the candidate that is willing to stand behind their strategies of economic well-being in Maine with a higher degree of certainty and greater accountability?

My direct home telephone number is 945-5240 (and my email is hammerforMaine2006@hotmail.com or hscpub@aol.com). If you wish, I hope that you will contact me to either let me know that you agree that Mainers need and deserve a higher standard, or in a respectful manner, to disagree.

And of course your vote (if you wish to do so) is always welcome also.

Alex Hammer is and Independent candidate for Governor residing in Bangor.
