Continued from Part 1
Then we move on to the rumours that Mohamed (PBUH) was the one who had written the Quran. This misconception seems to have originated before the death of the Mohamed (PBUH),but seems to be brought up more in ours time as attacks on the prophet Mohamed seem to get more frequent and in many different ways. It seemed easy now for people to discard the Quran as just mere man made so accuse the prophet Mohamed of actually writing the Quran; This theory can actually be genuinely refuted for the following reasons.
The first thing Allah created was the pen which Allah then ordered it to write everything that will take place on this earth.
The first verses of the Quran revealed to the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) by the archangel Gabriel were:
1. Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),
2. Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
3. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,
4. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen.
5. Has taught man that which he knew not.
The fact that the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) was unlearned, illiterate he answered I cannot read and when we go down to the fifth verse we see that is says GOD taught man what he knew not, the prophet (PBUH) was one referred to as the one who knew not because apart from being unlearned he was not in the position to know all the things that were going to be revealed to him in the 23 years to come. The Quran in so much detail reveals the many things that even in his life time could not have been thought of, even by the most powerful scientist. The accuracy that is found in the Quran it would most definitely have had to be the one and only creator of that particular thing who would have been able to explain such events in so much detail and precision. Mohamed (PBUH) was not the creator of anything and thus could not have known and explained in such meticulous detail what was unknown to him and to the most greatest scientist and only discovered until very recently with all the technology that we have.
In the Quran, chapter 23:12-14, it is revealed:
12. We created man from an extract of clay.
13. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed14. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)...
From verse 12, we can see the obvious that every man most probably knew at the time.
We created man from an extract of clay.
That man was made of Clay (dust, earth) what ever we want to call it although there no other reference in any other religious text to confirm that. However for arguments sake, let us just say that man knew this that he was made out of clay although we do not melt to mud or turn into clay once we wash or any other thing.
When we see the last part of verse 13 we can also deduce for arguments sake that may be when a woman is pregnant by feeling around one might (I did not say definitely but might) feel a womb but then again it would have been very difficult if not impossible for man, especially unlearned to conclude that a little drop of sperm and female discharge would first lodge itself in a place of settlement, firmly fixed, i.e. the womb, without using some sort of sophisticated equipment used in our time.
How would a man who has never been to school come up with the next statement, verse:
14. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot)
This process takes place inside the womb of the mother within a period of 40 days and is not visible with the naked eye and could not have been known by just a layman who has not been to school. We can see from the Illustration that the Alaqah is suspending. it also mentions in the verse a leech like substance, during the days of the Prophet Mohamed no man would have know how the foetus would look like inside the womb.
The leech like Alaqah looks like this illustration below:
Clearly one can see a leech like resemblance.
Something no man, no matter how much of a genius he could have been at the time, could have thought up something like this.
Whenever the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) received his revelations he always called for his scribes to write down what he said. It is said he had more than 40 scribes altogether and one of his more frequent scribe was Zaid bin Thabit, who used to write his revelations on pieces of bone, leather, parchment etc. Although they could read and write but it was impossible for any of them to even think of something like that since in this day and age only one who has studied medicine and has access to such sophisticated equipment can look into a woman's womb or remove the Leech like substance and do research and come up with such findings.
Furthermore, the verse goes on to say:
We made the alaqah into a mudghah ( like a piece of chewed substance)...
When you look at the next stage again in a period of 40 days we see that the leech-like substance has been transformed into what is referred to in Arabic as the Mudghah or like a piece of chewed gum substance. The Illustrations below shows just that, compare the two illustrations below:
This again has only come to light very recently and it was not a layman who could have discovered such a thing. Man had speacialise in certain fields of medicine for so many years and do research to in order to be able to come up with this fact. So how could one say that 1400 years ago a man like the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) could have written a book like this which such precision about things man barely knew? Here the creator of the universe who is the one who could have the power to create such a thing and also give so much detail and precision confirms in his book.
The Noble Quran Chapter 96:
5. Has taught man that which he knew not.
So man knows nothing, Allah has all the knowledge that he gives to man, and for any man to have written such a book it would only take a supernatural genius, which Prophet Mohamed was not, he was a mere human created by GOD too.
This is just one example of what knowledge the Quran has that man could not have thought of 1400 years ago. You may discard this as evidence so the following too is more evidence that the Quran could not have been written by the prophet Mohamed (PBUH).
The Quran also states in chapter 96, verses 15-16:
No! If he does not stop, We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)!
This is in reference to the cerebrum, the front of the brain, as seen below in the illustration known as the prefrontal area.
So, this area of the cerebrum is responsible for planning, motivating, and initiating good and sinful behavior and is responsible for the telling of lies and the speaking of truth. Thus, it is proper to describe the front of the head as lying and sinful when someone lies or commits a sin (brief illustrated Guide to understanding Islam)
So when the Quran says:
We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)!
There can be nothing more accurate than that. Again this could not have been known to the prophet Mohamed (PBUH)1400 years ago as this was only discovered during the last century or the beginning of this century. And it was only through the study of medicine with sophisticated equipment not available 1400 years that this was ever discovered. If in any way whatsoever Mohamed (PBUH) had a way of knowing these facts then he must have been the super genius of all times. Because it was only after so many centuries with so much sophisticate equipment that man came to know these facts.
He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together.
Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress.
(in another translation of the verse it says they meet but they encroach not)
This too was only discovered about 3 decades ago by Commander Jacques Cousteau ( a French under water scientist). How could this have been known by prophet Mohamed (PBUH).
Thus it is absurd to even think that the prophet Mohamed could have known even the slightest details of this and many verses in the Quran. If I were to go into it, I am sure it would need a small booklet to do so. There is an even detail in the Quran that the Romans were going to be defeated by the Persians and that years after they were going to be victorious again, like I mentioned to go in all this would need a small booklet you can get much of this detail and more in A brief illustrated Guide to understanding Islam". This can be found as a booklet and also online. These are but a couple of examples I have enclosed there are many more in the Quran which stand as proof that Mohamed (PBUH) could not have written the Quran and that is was written solely by the creator.
The second point which confirms that no way could the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) have written the Quran is that in the Quran there are many places where the law is laid down for example the laws of banning alcohol and prohibiting fornication and adultery, punishment for theft and so on and so forth. With hard and severe punishment for these sins if he had written the Quran would his own personal friends and family and all in his surrounding not turn against him. The prohibition of alcohol for instance, when the verses for the prohibition of alcohol were revealed, they were revealed in three instances it was not mandated to just stop drinking overnight. If the prophet Mohamed had written the Quran then I am sure as a human he would have made way for his friends and followers. Made concessions for them since there were records of friends and companions of the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) who were unable to kick the habit, there is records of a companion of the prophet who was drunk and even got slashes from the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH).So would his life not have been easier if he had made it lawful to even take a little sip at night as one of the first verses revealed said, or there second portion was not to enter the Mosques intoxicated?
43. O you who believe! Approach not AsSalât (the prayer) when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter, ...
So if he really wrote the Quran then he could have left it at the verse above and every body would be merry and he would have had more of a following. Otherwise they would have left and not followed his teachings as many have decided today that they want to carry on drinking and fornicating. The Quran confirms this with the verse:
3:159. It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with them (O Muhammad), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth those who put their trust (in Him).
So apart from just the alcohol bans, there were other things that the companions of the prophet used to indulge in pre Islam. If he had written the Quran he would have made his life much easier and not be chased out of his own birth place and get beaten and insulted so much, he could have just filled up the Quran with what the people wanted to see and hear. Some people also claim that the prophet Mohamed copied from the Bible or was taught by Christians and Jews, would it not have been easier for him to have included the major concepts of those religions like the Trinity and the son ship of Jesus? Would he not have had all Christians and Jews following him if he had copied their concept from their book exactly the way they follow it rather than preaching a different concept. The Quran confirms that with the following verse:
4:171. O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not "trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
So it is clear once again that the Quran was not written by the prophet Mohamed (PBUH) as here the Christians are warned to not say trinity as regards to Allah, had the Quran been from the Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) would he not have saved himself a lot of problems if he had left this verse and many others out.
We can see below from another perspective as too why the Quran could not have been by the prophet Mohamed (PBUH).
The Quran addresses many issues we have seen some of the issues above, we have also seen that the Quran addresses man directly. Many of the verses address the prophet Mohamed directly.
We can see for example chapter 20 verse 2: We have not sent down the Qur'ân unto you (O Muhammad) to cause you distress,
Chapter 4:81: They say: "We are obedient," but when they leave you (Muhammad), a section of them spend all night in planning other than what you say.
163. Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad) as We inspired Nûh (Noah) and the Prophets after him; We (also) inspired Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ'il (Ishmael), Ishâque (Isaac), Ya'qûb (Jacob), and AlAsbât [the twelve sons of Ya'qûb (Jacob)], 'Iesa (Jesus), Ayub (Job), Yûnus (Jonah), Hârûn (Aaron), and Sulaimân (Solomon), and to Dawûd (David) We gave the Zabûr (Psalms).
Chapter 2:189: They ask thee, (O Muhammad), of new moons. Say: They are fixed seasons for mankind and for the pilgrimage ...
215: They ask thee, (O Muhammad), what they shall spend. Say: That which ye spend for good (must go) to parents and near kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer ...
5:4 They ask thee (O Muhammad) what is made lawful for them. Say: (all) good things are made lawful for you. And those beasts and birds of prey which ye have trained as hounds are trained, ye teach them that which Allah taught you; so eat of that which they catch for you and mention Allah's name upon it,
6:90 Those are they whom Allah guideth, so follow their guidance. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for it. Lo! it is naught but a Reminder to (His) creatures
7:163 ask them (O Muhammad) of the township that was by the sea, how they did break the sabbath, how their big fish came unto them visibly upon their sabbath day and on a day when they did not keep sabbath came they not unto them. Thus did We try them for that they were evil-livers.
8:1 They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers.
The list goes on and on in the Quran where it is addressing Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) personally, why on earth if the prophet Mohamed had written the quran would he address verse to him self and then give the answer as to what to tell them. "They ask you (Oh! Muhammad) Say" or other verses which say "we have inspired you (Oh! Mohamed) Prophet tell your wives ..." Would it not be a bit ridiculous for him to be addressing himself and also saying what he would have to answer back. There was also an instance where the Prophet Mohamed was sat talking to the Tribal leaders of the Quraish (the leading Arabs of his time). He was spreading the message of Islam to them hoping that some of the elite would join Islam. At that moment one of his companions a blind man came to ask for some Islamic ruling and the Prophet of Islam frowned and turned away to the Quraish thinking they were more important that he tries to guide them. Straight away Chapter 80 of the Quran was revealed reprimanding him for this action:
- The Prophet frowned and turned away,
- Because there came to him the blind man.
- But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)
- Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?
- As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,
- To him you attend;
- What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allâh).
- But as to him who came to you running.
- And is afraid (of Allâh and His Punishment),
- Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,
- Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Qur'ân) are an admonition
- So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.
- (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).
- Exalted (in dignity), purified,
- In the hands of scribes (angels).
Above I only quoted 15 verses of the chapter as the rest is not relevant to issue we are addressing. Would he be talking to the elite of the Quraish tribe and then deliberately stop and reprimand himself in about 15 verses for turning away from one of his followers and then carry his preaching to the Quraish. This too is proof that the Quran was not written By Mohamed (PBUH) and that it could have been revealed only by a greater entity, GOD who sent hi and sent all other prophets. As we can see in the verses I just quoted that Allah address Mohamed (PBUH) directly. The Quran could not have been other than a divine revelation from GOD to man as we see in the examples above.
With this few examples I have conveyed the message to you to the best of my ability, however even though it is evident and clear many people after reading this will still continue spreading rumours that The Quran was not revealed by GOD but by Mohamed. I have done my duty and conveyed the message, the decision is yours whether you want to take it or leave it.
Over 1400 hundred years ago the creator of the universe revealed the Quran to mankind; it was to be the final testament, the miracle of miracles. If in anyway man thinks it was written by man then GOD has launched a challenged in his book that has until now not been taken on successfully by any man.
11:13. Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad) forged it (the Qur'an)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Sûrah(chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allâh (to your help), if you speak the truth!"
If you think that this may be too much of a challenge then Allah even makes it an easier, Allah reduces the load for those who claim the Quran was written by man he challenges them:
Chapter 2:23. And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'ân) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allâh, if you are truthful.
Chapter 10:38. Or do they say: "He (Muhammad) has forged it?" Say: "Bring then a Sûrah (chapter) like unto it, and call upon whomsoever you can, besides Allâh, if you are truthful!"
The smallest chapter in the Quran contains only three small verses, even that, man has not been able to undertake. So are you still in doubt that the Quran was revealed by almighty creator, owner of the Universe.
Until the next time we meet again I greet you with the greeting of all the prophets.
Peace be with you.
