Baby Blue, also known as Patrick Smith.
Baby Blue, whose real name is Patrick Smith, came into the Magic City Morning Star & Hard Drive Cafe on September 8, 2004, after completing a northbound thru-hike yesterday. Here is his profile.

When not on the trail, he is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is his first thru-hike, and he doesn't think he'll do it again, although he leaves that option open.

From the time that he left Springer Mountain, Georgia, he was on the trail for five months and six days. His favorite part of the trip was the White Mountains, the worst being when he accidentally turned around, going in the wrong direction, while hiking the 100-mile trail between Monson and Katahdin.

Asked what the town of Millinocket might do to make things easier for AT thru-hikers, he - like others - suggested a bus to Bangor, or even Medway.

After completing the journey from Georgia to Maine, hikers must find transportation from Baxter State Park to Millinocket, where they will often stay the night, and then to Medway in time for the one bus that leaves for Bangor in the morning. Otherwise, the only public transportion to Bangor involves a thumb.

Baby Blue had stopped in at the Hard Drive Cafe to access the Internet and for a good cup of coffee, and will try to make the morning bus out of Medway.
